Can I leave the church in my will?

Absolutely! The Catholic Foundation is happy to assist you in creating a lasting legacy that will meet your goals.

Does the Catholic Foundation charge a fee to set up a fund?

There is no cost charged to set up a fund. However, all funds share proportionately in the monthly operating expenses of the Foundation.

What types of entities can be supported with my bequest?

You can assist any religious, charitable or educational purpose, i.e., priest retirement, seminary education, scholarships to catholic school or college scholarships, an individual church parish, general church maintenance, building funds, cemetery upkeep, catholic retreat center, CCD materials, masses for the deceased, etc. You may decide on one ministry or several. We will help you design a legacy to meet your charitable goals.

Does my fund last forever?

Funds may be revocable or irrevocable as established by you in your gift contract.

Are both principle and earnings distributed?

Unless the donor asks for the principle to be distributed, only the earnings are distributed. The donor can also request that a percentage of the earnings be reinvested so that the fund continues to grow.

Who manages the funds?

The Board of Directors of the Catholic Foundation manage and oversee the investment of funds in accordance with our investment policy. Our investment policy conforms to the guidelines as set by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Is the Catholic Foundation of North-Central Louisiana a part of the Diocese of Alexandria?

The Foundation is a separate juridical person under the Code of Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church, Western Rite, and such regulations thereunder, and the Magisterium or Official Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church, Western Rite. It is also a separate legal person under the Louisiana Non-Profit statutes.

Can I only gift cash?

No. You may gift cash, stocks, bonds, insurance policies, real estate and other assets.

Does the Foundation have an office?

Yes. We have an office within the Diocese of Alexandria office building located at 4400 Coliseum Blvd, Alexandria, LA 71303.

Do I need an attorney to create a legacy?

No, but we are happy to work with your attorney to assist you in defining your charitable objectives so that you achieve your goals.

What is the purpose of the Catholic Foundation of North-Central Louisiana?

The Foundation was formed for a two-fold purpose:

To conduct programs designed to share opportunities for planned giving that benefit Catholic causes and entities within the Diocese of Alexandria; and
To administer those gifts under the terms of their specified purposes.
